Emily Wilson

Organizational & Strategic Advisor

My mother always knew that she wanted to have a daughter, and that she wanted to name her Emily. When my sister was born, my mother didn’t think she seemed like an Emily, so gave her a different name. Five years later, I came into the world and my mother felt like the name fit. There are many meanings of the name Emily, but it is often connected with the notions of diligence, hard work and ambition. From a spiritual angle, bearers of the name are often associated with inner strength, resilience and compassion. Life is a journey, and I am always learning and striving to embody these meanings.”

Emily is an experienced facilitator and organizational development practitioner with a strong commitment to environmental and social justice and to advancing the rights of women and Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the Global South. She has almost two decades of experience supporting leaders, teams, and organizations to clarify their vision, strengthen their strategy, and amplify their impact. Her work has primarily focused on civil society organizations and networks, and she has spent many years working in the Congo Basin and across Africa.

It is through this work that Emily met Mireille, who has been a cherished colleague, friend, and collaborator for over ten years, and with whom she has had the privilege of witnessing Terra Mucho grow from a small seed of an idea in 2024 into a strongly rooted vision, team, and set of initiatives. She now continues to support through her contributions to strategy development, partnerships, resource mobilization, external communications, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

Her work is grounded in participatory and collaborative approaches, with a strength in designing processes and creating safe, generative spaces for reflection and collective thinking. She brings warmth, curiosity, humour, and creativity to her work and collaborators
