Faida Uwitonze

Board Treasurer

“My first name Faida comes from Swahili and means benefit, something of value, something worth having. My family name, Uwitonze, comes from Kinyabwisha and means the one who is patient, the one who is wise and remains calm. I don’t know if my parents planned it all out, but between the two, they gave me a pretty clear roadmap for navigating nearly 20 years of humanitarian finance without losing my mind.”

Faida is a finance and grants management specialist with nearly two decades of experience in the non-profit and humanitarian sector. She has navigated complex financial environments across Central Africa and beyond, holding roles in accounting, budget management, grants oversight, and organizational finance for organization. Her expertise spans the full financial cycle, from developing financing plans, resource mobilization, grants and audits management, while ensuring compliance across multi-donor portfolios.

Currently based in Yaoundé, she serves as Director of Finance and Administration at Wildlife Conservation Society Cameroon, where she oversees the country-level financial and administrative operations of one of the world’s leading conservation organizations.

Mireille and Faida’s story begins long before Terra Mucho. Both from Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo, they crossed paths in 2004 at the very start of their humanitarian careers. Years later, their paths converged again at Well Grounded, where Faida stepped in to replace Mireille during her maternity leave. It is there, working side by side on environmental justice, that their bond truly deepened, and where both discovered a shared commitment to the intersection of people, planet, and equity. Outside of work, they share another passion entirely: singing in a choir.

She joined Terra Mucho’s board in 2024 as Treasurer, bringing the financial rigor, institutional knowledge, and deep-rooted values that the organization needs to grow with integrity.
