Our story
From Conformity to Liberation
Like many women of my generation, I was confronted with the weight of society’s expectations, which encouraged me to conform to predefined roles. Between the old world and the new, I often felt trapped. Wanting to be free, to think and act independently, I set out to discover the wide world in search of places where this freedom was possible. In this quest for emancipation, I realised that it was essential to question existing practices and to think critically and autonomously in order to bring about significant change in Africa and in my country.
As a facilitator practitioner, I noticed a glaring imbalance. When it came to working with senior leaders, finding women was a major challenge. Despite our efforts to promote equality, we often settled for a meagre 25% of women, which was far from satisfactory. This was troubling because we were addressing issues that are essential to our society and the survival of biodiversity, but women were under-represented. It was this question that became an obsession for me: why, when women represent 50% of the population, are we struggling to reach the 20% mark for women in positions of responsibility?
Terra Mucho was created to redress this balance. Our mission is to catalyse the potential of women at the start of their careers and to amplify the voices and presences of those who have succeeded in breaking down barriers. At Terra Mucho, we believe in the power of small actions and female solidarity to reshape history and fight oppression. Together, let’s create a world where equality and fairness enable women to take action for nature and humanity.
