Amplifying Women’s Visibility, Leadership and Environmental Impact

We support and connect women environmental leaders from the Congo Basin and across francophone Africa to elevate their voices, activate their potential and step into their power.

ELEVATE

We cast light on the journeys of women who are shaping environmental justice across francophone Africa, engaging in candid conversations and sharing stories that matter on the Terra Mucho Podcast.

ACTIVATE

We strengthen capacities through training and offer networking opportunities supporting women to boost confidence, speak out and connect with one another through shared spaces.

EMPOWER

We invite women to join the Mosaïque Mwasi Collective. A space for peer learning, mutual support, designed to build their resilience, increase their visibility, and expand their opportunities.

The Context

A Region of the Highest Stakes

The Congo Basin sits at the heart of francophone Africa, a region shaped by enduring inequalities and systemic pressures.

  • Colonial legacy: Historical structures still shape inequality today.
  • Extractivism: Resource extraction fuels conflict and environmental degradation.
  • Constrained civic space: Civil society operates under pressure and fragmentation.
  • Gender inequalities: Women continue to face persistent structural barriers and are generally excluded from decision-making spaces.

Women and other civil society leaders are on the frontlines: defending communities, demanding accountability, and advancing sustainable alternatives.

We exist to amplify, support and connect women environmental leaders across Francophone Africa so their leadership is visible, supported, and strengthened.

Our Bet on Women

How We Contribute to Environmental Change

We believe that investing in women leading environmental initiatives leads to better-informed decisions, more relevant policies, and more sustainable solutions. In turn, this strengthens the foundations of just societies that are more resilient, and better equipped to safeguard natural resources and biodiversity for communities that deeply depend on them and future generations.
